Forest School Passports

During our Forest School sessions the children progress through different skills in Tools, Rope, Fire, Dens and Nature. Once they have achieved all of the skills in Forest School Skills Passport 1 they can move onto Forest School Skills Passport 2. Once they have achieved the skills in Forest School Skills Passport 2 they receive their much anticipated Forest School badge. The children really enjoy working on these various skills and are really proud of their achievements.

Take a look at St Peter's Forest School Passports below...

We’ve had a wonderful start to the year at Forest School with an incredible amount of learning and fun! We’ve been busy practising and applying our Forest School skills with tools, dens, rope and fire. We enjoyed collecting our harvest and we’ve spent time observing the seasonal changes and learning about hibernation and migration.

We have had a fantastic Autumn Term at Forest School. In Apple Tree Class there has been lots of exploring seasonal changes, making and building and lots of imaginative play! In Oak Class we have also taken their DT and Science learning out to Forest School and started working on their Forest School skills such as tools and dens!

You may remember one of our Forest School sessions back in the Autumn when we had fun with conkers. Amongst much conker rolling and crafting we learnt that conkers are the seeds of the Horse Chestnut tree and we planted one. Well, I am pleased to report that I have it in my garden and it has started growing!!! Have a look at the photo.... I think it will need a MUCH bigger pot soon!

If you are unable to get to nature perhaps you could get nature to come to you....! You could watch the miracle of metamorphosis in your own home... (https://www.insectlore.co.uk/)

This term at Forest School we have taken our geography work outside, making and using maps. We've continued to prepare our snacks on the campfire and we enjoyed taking part in the RSPB's Big Gardn Bird Watch.

We are having a great term at Forest School. We have taken our science learning outside and been exploring and explaining the seasonal changes. We have been learning about the fire triangle and been cooking our own snacks on the campfire. We have enjoyed exploring the flooded swamp too! In the coming weeks we shall be learning how to use tools as we design and make our own Christmas tree decorations.... watch this space for more photos!
